The Seneca Regional Port District in Seneca, Illinois is located in North Central Illinois, 65 miles southwest of Chicago on the Illinois River approximately 5 miles south of Interstate 80, 25 miles from the I-55 & I-80 intersection and 25 miles from the I-80 & I-39 intersection and approximately 15 miles from the Morris Municipal Airport. The District covers an area located within the Illinois-Michigan Canal Heritage Corridor and encompasses the Seneca I-80 Railport, a 555 acre Business park and 465 acre Railport; two (2) industrial parks and three (3) industrial TIF Districts.
The Shipyard Industrial Park, the larger of the two industrial parks, comprises approximately 185 acres zoned industrial, all of which are within the TIF district. The property includes a mile and a half of frontage on the Illinois River. Businesses within the Industrial Park provide bulk barge loading and unloading capability, rail to truck transfer equipment, cranes to 200 tons, 12,000 linear feet of rail, heavy duty forklifts and a 100,000 lb truck scale. Rail service is provided by CSX. Commonwealth Edison, Illinois Power, NICOR gas, and AT&T provide utility service. Old Stage Industrial Park comprises approximately 68 acres zoned industrial, all of which is in a TIF District. This property includes one half mile of frontage on the Illinois River.
